Safe, Planned Removals
Tree Removal in the Niagara Region, ON
Dead, dying and unwanted trees taken down safely, with the rules checked and the yard cleaned up.
When a Tree Has to Come Down
Nobody likes losing a big tree, and we never recommend removal when pruning would do. But some trees can't be saved. The ash that emerald ash borer killed years ago. The silver maple with a rotten trunk leaning over the bedroom. The spruce planted a metre from the foundation. When a tree is dead, failing or simply in the wrong place, the safest thing is to take it down on your schedule rather than waiting for a storm to do it. Call (289) 672-1630 for a free removal estimate anywhere in the Niagara Region.
We assess every tree before quoting: its condition, its lean, what it could hit and how the crew can get at it. Then we tell you plainly whether it really needs to go, what the removal involves and what it costs.
What's Included
Dead and Dying Trees
Trees killed by disease, drought, construction damage or pests, removed before they start dropping limbs or fall on their own.
Ash Tree Removal
Emerald ash borer has killed most of the ash in Niagara. Dead ash dries out and turns brittle, which makes it unpredictable to climb and fell, so we plan these removals with extra care.
Sectional Takedowns
Trees next to houses, garages, fences and gardens taken down piece by piece, with each section lowered on ropes instead of dropped.
Felling Where There's Room
On larger rural lots, a tree can sometimes be felled in one piece in a planned direction. It's quicker and costs less when the space allows.
Permit Check
We look at your town's by-law and the Regional woodland by-law before we quote, and tell you if anything needs an application.
Wood and Stump Options
Wood chipped, hauled away or cut to firewood length and stacked, and the stump ground out on the same visit if you want.

Can I Remove This Tree? Check Before You Cut
In most of Niagara, an ordinary tree in your own yard can be removed without a permit. The exceptions are worth knowing:
- Woodlands. Niagara Region's Woodland Conservation By-law protects woodlands of a hectare or more anywhere in the region, and smaller woodlands in Grimsby, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Niagara Falls, Pelham, St. Catharines and West Lincoln. A woodland means a dense stand of trees across one or more properties. Dead trees and trees that are a hazard to people or property are exempt. Fines for cutting without a permit can reach $10,000 or $1,000 per tree.
- Lincoln. In Beamsville, Vineland, Jordan and the Town's other urban areas, trees 15 cm across or more at chest height need a permit or an exemption letter before removal.
- Fort Erie. The Town's tree by-law covers larger trees inside its urban boundary and trees in its natural heritage areas.
- City and Town trees. A tree on the boulevard belongs to the municipality, even if it's in front of your house. Only the City or Town can remove it.
We check your address before we cut and help with the paperwork when an application is needed.
What Does Tree Removal Cost?
These typical ranges come from Ontario pricing guides. Your quote, after we've seen the tree, is the real number.
| Tree | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Small tree (under about 9 m) | $300 – $800 |
| Medium tree (9–18 m) | $800 – $1,500 |
| Large tree (over 18 m) | $1,500 – $3,000 |
| Large tree near a building, or dead ash | Quoted on site |
Typical ranges only. Rigging over a roof, poor access to the backyard, wires nearby and hauling all the wood away add to the price. Stump grinding is quoted separately.
How It Works
- 1
Assess the Tree
We look at the tree's health, lean and surroundings, and whether pruning could save it instead.
- 2
Check the Rules and Quote
We confirm whether a permit or exemption is needed, then give you a written quote covering the removal, the wood and the stump.
- 3
Plan the Takedown
The crew decides where each piece will go: lowered on ropes, dropped into a clear area, or felled whole.
- 4
Take It Down
Climbers work from the top down while the ground crew handles the ropes, the chipper and the logs. Lawns get protected where equipment crosses them.
- 5
Clean Up
Chips and logs dealt with as agreed, the stump ground if you chose it, and the yard raked before we leave.
Tree Removal Questions
Do I need a permit to remove a tree?
Usually not for a single tree in your yard. You may need one if the tree is in a woodland, if you're in Lincoln or Fort Erie and the tree is a regulated size, or if it's a City or Town tree. We check for you before we quote.
How much does tree removal cost?
Expect anything from about $300 for a small tree to around $3,000 for a large one, depending on its size and what's around it. Big trees over a house can cost more.
Do you grind the stump too?
Yes. Stump grinding can be added to any removal, usually on the same day, and it's priced separately so you can decide.
