Tree Care for Port Dalhousie Homes and Lots
Port Dalhousie is St. Catharines' lakeside village, where old trees line the streets above the harbour and take the full force of Lake Ontario's wind. Tree Service Niagara prunes, trims and removes trees here, grinds stumps and comes out after storms, with one crew handling the whole job. Call (289) 672-1630 to book a free estimate.
The first step is always a visit. We look at each tree's health, what it's growing near and how the crew can reach it, then put together a written quote that lists what we'd cut, what we'd leave and what it costs.
Local Trees, Local Conditions
Between the harbour, Lakeside Park and its antique carousel, and the streets of older homes behind them, Port Dalhousie has some of the most exposed big trees in the city. Wind off the lake leaves crowns lopsided and drops deadwood every storm season. Most of these trees don't need to come down. They need regular pruning: dead limbs out, heavy ends reduced and the crown thinned so the wind can pass through.
Trees here are often old, large and close to the house, so tree pruning is the work we’re asked for most in Port Dalhousie.
Trees Like Yours
Trees near the lake take more wind than trees inland, and they take it from the open water side with nothing to break it. Over time that leaves lopsided crowns, wind-cracked forks and deadwood on the exposed side. Thinning the crown so wind passes through, and clearing out dead and weak limbs before storm season, does more to keep a lakeshore tree standing than anything else. Salt spray from winter roads adds stress to trees along the street.

How It Works
- 1
Free Visit
We walk the property with you and look at every tree you're concerned about.
- 2
Written Quote
Each tree and each job listed separately, with the price and how the wood and cleanup are handled.
- 3
Rules Checked
City trees are protected by By-law 2017-326, and only the City can prune or remove them. St. Catharines has also handed small-woodland protection to the Region, so trees that are part of a woodland may be regulated. We check before any removal.
- 4
The Work
Climbers and ground crew prune, trim or take down the tree, lowering wood on ropes where it can't fall freely, and checking for nests from spring to late summer.
- 5
Cleanup
Branches chipped, wood cut, stacked or hauled away, and the yard raked before we go.
Pruning, Trimming and Removal
Most calls start with “I need a tree cut”, and the right answer depends on what you want. Trimming gets branches off the roof, the driveway or the view. Pruning keeps a tree healthy and strong: deadwood out, weak forks corrected, a heavy crown thinned. Removal is for trees that are dead, failing or in the wrong place, and stump grinding finishes the job. We'll tell you which your trees need, and we never recommend removal when pruning would do.
